چکیده
Aerosol optics models are an integral part of climate and retrieval methods for global remote sensing observations. Such large-scale environmental applications place tight constraints on the affordable model complexity, which difficult to reconcile with considerable level detail that is needed capture sensitivity optical properties morphological aerosol characteristics. Here, we develop a novel core-grey-shell dimer demonstrate its potential reproducing radiometric polarimetric black carbon aerosols. The depolarisation mainly sensitive relative size monomers, while cross sections depend core-shell partitioning carbon. optimum choice these parameters fairly stable across particle sizes soot volume fraction, as demonstrated by comparison more realistic coated aggregate model.

Remote sensing data assimilation for a prognostic phenology model
[1] Predicting the global carbon and water cycle requires a realistic representation of vegetation phenology in climate models. However most prognostic phenology models are not yet suited for global applications, and diagnostic satellite data can be uncertain and lack predictive power. We present a framework for data assimilation of Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation absorbed by ve...
متن کاملCoupling aerosol optics to the MATCH (v5.5.0) chemical transport model and the SALSA (v1) aerosol microphysics module
A new aerosol-optics model is implemented in which realistic morphologies and mixing states are assumed, especially for black carbon particles. The model includes both external and internal mixing of all chemical species, it treats externally mixed black carbon as fractal aggregates, and it accounts for inhomogeneous internal mixing of black carbon by use of a novel “core-grey-shell” model. Sim...

A new aerosol retrieval algorithm is presented which computes the spectral opti-cal depth over the ocean from spaceborne radiometers. It includes both multiplescattering and the bi-directional re ectance of the ocean surface. The algorithmis applied to data from the Along Track Scanning Radiometer 2 (ATSR-2).This radiometer aboard the ERS-2 satellite has 4 bands in the visible a...
متن کاملRegional crop yield forecasting using probabilistic crop growth modelling and remote sensing data assimilation
Information on the outlook of yield and production of crops over large regions is essential for government services dealing with import and export of food crops, for agencies playing a role in food relief, for international organisations with a mandate in monitoring the world food production and trade, as well as for commodity traders. In Europe, such information is provided by the MARS (Monito...
